There are a number of challenges the LGBT community faces in their personal and private lives as a result of discrimination and bias.  Youth and senior adults are particularly at risk.  Children and teens are 5 times more likely to miss school because they feel unsafe due to harassment by their classmates and 28 percent will eventually drop out.  Senior adults face unequal treatment and a host of other issues that affect their financial security, health status and quality of life.

The Growing Together Endowment Fund will help to ensure that our community is well-positioned to solve problems now, and to be proactive in the future, thus maintaining San Luis Obispo County as a model of cultural competency with a safe and welcoming environment for all community members.  A campaign goal of $375,000 has been established and we’re launching a challenge to the community to raise $50,000.

Many people realize discrimination against any group is wrong and needs to be stopped.  You have an opportunity to supply resources to move equality forward in our community.  Your donation to the Growing Together Endowment Fund will provide community grants in perpetuity, promoting justice for all in San Luis Obispo County.
